Recraft V4.1 Flash: Speed, Price, Inputs and Limits

What is Recraft V4.1 Flash?

Recraft announced V4.1 Flash on September 23, 2026 as a separate text-to-image model in the V4.1 family. Recraft positions it for rapid iteration rather than as a speed toggle on another model. It is available in Recraft Studio and through the Recraft API. PromptToVisual does not currently host Recraft V4.1 Flash, so this page is an independent model guide rather than a working Recraft generator.

How fast is it?

Recraft reports a 1.3-second median from prompt to image for Flash in a 1,000-prompt API test. The company says the measurement was taken on September 21, 2026 and excludes download time. Treat that as a vendor benchmark, not a PromptToVisual test or a guaranteed latency for every provider, prompt or location. OpenRouter currently reports a different end-to-end provider latency, which is another reason not to present one speed number as universal.

What does it cost?

At this review, OpenRouter lists Recraft V4.1 Flash at USD 0.007 per generated image and describes it as roughly one fifth of the cost of Recraft V4.1 on that route. Provider pricing can change and does not equal PromptToVisual retail credits. Check the provider you actually use before budgeting a high-volume workflow. This page does not imply that PromptToVisual sells Flash at that API price.

What inputs does Flash support?

OpenRouter documents this route as generation-only: text goes in and an image comes out. It does not accept an input image, a style input or a style-reference image on this route. The listed output is roughly 1K raster resolution, with common landscape, portrait and square aspect ratios. If your task begins with a product photo that must be edited, this particular Flash route is not the same workflow.

What is Recraft Refine?

Recraft also introduced a Refine action for taking a promising Flash composition to Recraft V4.1 Pro at 2048 by 2048. Recraft describes Subtle and Moderate refinement levels that preserve the chosen composition while cleaning or rebuilding details. Refine is a Recraft product workflow; it is not a PromptToVisual button and it should not be described as simple deterministic upscaling.

When does a fast text-to-image model make sense?

Flash is most relevant when you want to explore many visual directions quickly from text: early concepts, social imagery, mood exploration or high-volume idea generation. Speed matters less when the task depends on reference-image fidelity, exact packaging, masks or repeated edits to an existing asset. Define what must remain unchanged before choosing a model solely because its first image arrives quickly.

What can I use on PromptToVisual instead?

For inexpensive text-only drafts inside PromptToVisual, Z-Image Turbo is the current fast-draft option at 2 credits per image. It is a different model with different capabilities and should not be presented as equivalent to Recraft Flash. For editing a reference image, choose one of the editing-capable models in the studio and review the displayed credit cost before submitting.

How should I compare it fairly?

Keep the prompt, aspect ratio, provider and acceptance criteria stable. Record whether you are comparing raw generation latency, time until a downloadable file, price per API output or price per usable creative result. A vendor benchmark can answer one of those questions without answering all of them. Save useful outputs before changing several variables at once.
