Ideogram 4.5: Precise Edit, API, References and Resolution
A source-checked guide to Ideogram 4.5 editing, masks, reference limits and availability. PromptToVisual does not provide Ideogram 4.5 generation.
What is Ideogram 4.5 for?
Ideogram positions 4.5 around precise editing and reducing drift over successive revisions. This is the vendor’s positioning, not a PromptToVisual quality test. We have not run or integrated this model.
Precise Edit: what does the API promise?
The official overview says Precise Edit copies untouched pixels from the original and preserves its dimensions. It documents a generation route, /v2/image/generate/ideogram-4-5, and a separate /v2/image/precise-edit/ideogram-4-5 route for editing. Use the latter contract when reviewing preservation behavior, rather than assuming that ordinary generation has the same guarantees.
Mask and reference limits that affect a real request
Precise Edit accepts a source image and up to four reference_images. With a mask, only three references remain available: the mask consumes one slot. Black selects the edit area; white selects the area to retain. The mask must match the source dimensions and contain both colors. JPEG, PNG and WebP inputs have a 25 MB limit per file. Reference images guide the change; they are not themselves edited.
High-resolution editing: the example is not a maximum
The model page advertises editing at any resolution and demonstrates a 4016 × 6016, 24.2 MP source. That is an example, not evidence of a 24 MP hard cap. Do not translate the example into a universal maximum or an unrestricted API guarantee.
Read the API caveat before promising original-size delivery
The current endpoint text also says oversized images can be downscaled and returned as rendered; aspect ratios beyond 1:6 to 6:1 are rejected. That caveat qualifies its same-dimensions wording. Confirm the exact source size before building a high-resolution delivery promise. Output dimensions and unchanged areas both need inspection.
Ideogram 4.5 vs Sunburst or Nano Banana: whose comparison?
Ideogram’s own comparison shows repeated edits alongside GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2. These are vendor-selected demonstrations. They do not establish our independent failure rate, a universal winner or that other models become unusable after a fixed number of edits. PromptToVisual’s existing image samples are separate observations, not a matched Ideogram comparison.
What is the current Ideogram 4.5 API price?
An exact 4.5 price was not verifiable from the current pricing page at this source check; its accessible API section showed a loading state. We leave it UNKNOWN rather than importing a 3.0 or 4.0 flat fee. Check the current model-specific quote before submitting work. No number here is a PromptToVisual price or credit conversion.
Can I download the weights?
Ideogram 4.5 weights status is UNKNOWN in the exact-model sources reviewed here. Navigation to an open-source or licensing page does not prove that this release has downloadable weights. In particular, a 4.0 license is not evidence for 4.5.
Best fit by task: Ideogram 4.5 vs FLUX 3 Image
For a masked local change, inspect the documented Precise Edit mask contract. For placing multiple references in a designed scene, inspect FLUX 3 Image’s reference and bounding-box controls in the companion guide. These are differences in workflow controls, not quality rankings. Start with the required operation and verify its limits before choosing a service.
A useful acceptance brief before your first edit
Write down the one requested change, the regions that must stay intact and the required output dimensions. Keep the original. Inspect lettering, edges, textures and background after each revision; save acceptable versions instead of repeatedly overwriting one result. This is our proposed review method, not a test performed for this page.
Choose a workflow, then read its contract
