Ideogram Vector: Generate SVGs, Vectorize Images and Check the Result

Ideogram Vector creates scalable, editable SVG artwork from prompts or images. Choose generation or vectorization, understand the API quote and inspect the actual paths. Ideogram Vector is not integrated into PromptToVisual.

Choose the starting point: a prompt or an existing image

Ideogram’s Vector page offers two entries: Create a vector and Vectorize an image. Use the prompt route for a new icon, illustration or logo concept. Use vectorization when you already have artwork and want an editable SVG version. The official page describes scalable, editable SVG output; it does not make every generated design ready for every print or cutting process.

What the generation API actually accepts

The documented endpoint is POST /v2/svg/generate/ideogram-vector-1, authenticated with an Api-Key header. It accepts a required prompt, optional image references, an aspect ratio, low/medium/high quality and 1–8 images. It returns a generation_id; receiving that identifier is not the same as receiving a finished SVG. Keep keys on your server and follow the provider’s completion instructions before delivering a file.

Get a quote for the exact request

The official endpoint documents dry_run=true: it validates and prices the supplied request without generating, storing, billing or performing safety review. Quality and output count must match the request you intend to run. We have not called this endpoint or verified an account-specific quote, so this page does not invent a dollar price, a free allowance or a PromptToVisual credit cost.

A practical first brief for an editable icon

Try this original brief in the official tool: a simple leaf-and-sun emblem with three solid colors, a clear outer silhouette, no gradients, no shadows and no lettering. This is a proposed test, not a supplied Ideogram sample. A small palette makes it easier to inspect separate objects and recolor the design. Once the structure works, add more detail only if the intended size needs it.

Inspect the SVG rather than just its thumbnail

Open the downloaded SVG in your vector editor. Select and recolor one shape, enlarge it, inspect overlapping edges, and check whether the artwork contains editable paths or embedded raster elements. Reopen a saved copy to confirm it survives your export workflow. For cutting or print production, check closed paths, required dimensions, colors and your supplier’s specification. For a logo, also review distinctiveness and usage rights; an SVG extension is not a trademark clearance.

What can I do on PromptToVisual?

Our existing image studio can help you explore a raster concept, and local crop or text tools can prepare an existing image. Those outputs are not a substitute for editable vector paths. PromptToVisual does not currently generate or vectorize SVGs with Ideogram. Use the official Vector entry for that requirement; our separate Ideogram 4.5 guide covers a different image-model workflow.
